Mara, the woman I’ve been growing so fond of, snuggles into my side as she continues to sleep. She smells amazing, like vanilla and fire. I lean down and kiss her head, taking in another deep breath of her scent. Finding her was the oddest and most amazing thing that has happened in my existence. Amari and I had been having dreams or visions, whatever you want to call them, of this red-haired beauty for weeks. As members of the Infernal Blade, we’re used to nightly visions, but never such as these. This vision wasn’t a call for us to kill, it was a call for us to save. Definitely an oddity in our line of work. In every vision she was in that fucking warehouse, beaten and naked. Just the thought makes my hands clench in anger. I can’t wait to get my hands on whatever fuckers dared to abduct three members of the Infernal Blade. I will strip the flesh from their body and savor their torment.

I look down at Mara again, worried by my malicious thoughts. I know she’s used to death, used to killing by her own hand, but I am darker than some of the other members. Amari has been the only thing to steady me these past few years. Before Amari, I used to be an animal, and I found happiness in every kill. It satisfied the darkness inside me, the demon that lies within me. Amari helped me see what we do as a job, as a task we’re assigned and complete each day. Some people are bankers, some people are doctors, but we are enders. The bringers of death. It’s probably a lot more poetic than what we really are, which are murderers, but whatever helps him get to sleep at night. He has brought me a sense of peace and friendship. Family.

We have shared women since we’ve met, and he kept me from letting things get too dark. I spent a lot of time in those seedy clubs for Doms, taking out my darkness and anger through sex on subs. It was sexually satisfying until it was over, then I felt like a monster. That’s how the Elders found me, they could sense the darkness in my soul. I went in one night looking for the only people that could handle my sexual preferences, and I found a pretty little sub and took her to one of the back rooms. I killed her. I took it too far and I killed her because I thought she could handle it. When the Elders approached to initiate me into the Infernal Blade, I couldn’t see a reason to say no. I was a killer, the killing satisfied my darkness. The Infernal Blade gave me a reason. It gave me an outlet for the darkness. When the thrill wasn’t enough anymore and I started to delve back into my twisted ways, then I met Amari. He saved me from myself and for that, I will always owe him everything.
